CHECKLIST HEAVEN
Over the years, we have developed several versions of our checklist to make it easier for new members to develop their own…
.… and as a result, it’s become a little confusing for new members.
“Which sheet should I use?” is a question we often get, especially when people haven’t been through the QAV GETTING STARTED COURSE yet.
Here’s what we recommend.
1. Do the QAV GETTING STARTED COURSE first. It exists for a reason.
2. As you’re working your way through that, try to build your own version of the spreadsheet. That’s how Cameron got started (the CR version below is the historical remnant of those days… these days, Cameron has scripted the entire thing). That way you have a better chance of really understanding what metrics we are looking at, why they matter and how the relate to each other. If you’re “not good with Excel”, guess what? You have AI tools that can help you. Cameron didn’t have that when he started this in 2019. You’re so lucky! If you get stuck doing something in Excel, just ask ChatGPT or Gemini or Claude to help you. They are REALLY GOOD at Excel.
3. If you want to move on to one of our templates, we recommend using the CR version first. It is the one the QAV Bible is built around. It’s pretty simple and let’s you work through the model line by line.
4. Once you’re ready to do a download, try the AF template. It was designed by one of our club members who is an Excel guru. It’s very user-friendly and has a nice sheet inside it which explains how to use it, step by step. That sheet also contains a link to a video of AF himself explaining how to use it.
5. If you want to be a purist, try the TK version. That’s the one TK uses to this very day, because he likes it and has been using it for years. We won’t judge him for that.
Stock Doctor or Stockopedia?
We use both and there are sheets for both. The Stockopedia versions below have “Stockopedia” in their name. The rest are based on Stock Doctor. A Stockopedia membership is less expensive than Stock Doctor (look in the QAV Bible section about data sources for our membership deals with each vendor) and they also have options for non-Australian stocks (eg USA, UK, etc). However Stock Doctor has some proprietary metrics, so we needed to build a special Stockopedia version of the checklist. Cameron uses it every week to build his American buy list and it works great.
